What do you like best about Australia?

Through the New Hampshire libraries' G'Day for Reading summer program, you’ve had a chance to read and learn about Australia, a fascinating and diverse country with a wide variety of places to see and things to do.

Based on what you’ve learned this summer, what one thing you would really like to do if you traveled to Australia?

• Is there a special place you read about that you would like to visit?
• Something different you would like to eat?
• An activity you would really like to try?

Your Invitation:
To make a storyboard on what you like best in Australia. Include a short narrative and your own drawings or pictures you find.

Your Entry:
Your storyboard must have at least two panels and no more than 10.
Be sure to include:

• your name,
• age,
• address,
• telephone number,
• email address,
• and the name of your library.

Prizes:
Grand Prize:
A weekend of your choice in 2009 with your family (up to 4 people including at least one adult) in a Lakeview Cabin at Geneva Point Center in Moultonborough to have fun on Lake Winni and explore a range of activities.

Second Prize:
A $100 savings bond from Meredith Village Savings Bank.

Third Prize:
A custom G’Day for Reading quilted wall-hanging, with fabric from Australia’s Outback, designed and created by Linda Monasky of the Bear Paw Gallery in Alton, NH.

Each winner’s library will receive a copy of Images of Queensland, Frasier Island provided by Great Escape Travel Services.

Judging:
Entries will be judged according to age groups: a) age 8 and under, b) ages 9-11, c) ages 12-15. Winning entrants will be notified by October 6, 2008.

The 3-person judges’ panel will choose one grand prize winner and one second prize winner. Three third prize winners from each age group will also be selected. Entries that make the judges want to jump on an airplane and head off to experience Australia are sure to score highly.

All winners will be invited to attend an award reception at the Geneva Point Center. Winning entries will be displayed at Geneva Point Center so everyone can come on over to see the Best of Australia.

Rules:

• Only one entry per child;
• Entrants must be 15 years of age or younger.
• Enrollment in the “G’Day for Reading” program at your local library is not mandatory.
• Summer residents should indicate their contact information in the fall and the New Hampshire library where they enjoyed the summer.

Entries cannot be returned and may be used in future displays, publications and/or internet promotions.
